Minou Afzali (Dr. phil.) is deputy head of the Institute of Design Research at the Bern University of the Arts HKB and coordinator of the research field Social Communication. She is also coordinator of the interdisciplinary research group Health Care Communication Design HCCD at the Bern University of Applied Sciences. Minou’s research focusses on health care design and social design. She teaches at the HKB/MA Design and the Y Institute of Transdisciplinarity.

Minou started her education as a designer at the Basel School of Design (CH). She holds a degree in product design (University of Design, Offenbach a. Main) and a PhD from the Institute for Social Anthropology at the University of Berne. She completed her PhD “On the Role of Design in Culture-Specific Nursing Homes” as part of the PhD-programme SINTA of HKB and the University of Bern.
